In-Person and Online Info Sessions Available

  • In-Person: July 29 or August 12 at 10 am at the Workforce Development Hub
  • Online: July 22 at 12 pm, August 5 at 1 pm, August 19 at 5 pm, or August 26 at 12 pm

No registration is needed to attend an information session. Online sessions are on zoom, using Meeting ID: 656 637 5032.

Preparing You for Employment

The Medical Assistant Certificate of Continuing Study (CCS) prepares students for a career as a medical assistant, with competency and confidence in:

  • Administrative Procedures (Reception, Scheduling)
  • Anatomy, Physiology, and Physiology (basic)
  • Clinical Procedures and Skills
  • Communication Skills: Communication for Medical Assistants
  • Computer Skills: Digital Literacy, Electronic Health Records
  • CPR Certification
  • Customer Service
  • Healthcare Law and Ethics; HIPAA Training
  • Math (in medical context)
  • Medical Terminology
  • Pharmacology (basic)

Eligible graduates are able to sit for the National Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam.

Beyond the necessary Medical Assistant skills, we get you ready to apply for jobs! We provide individual counseling with a case manager and professional development that covers resume and cover letter writing, job searching, and practice interviews. We make sure you're ready to succeed!

Program Schedule

20 week program: 14 weeks of classwork followed by a minimum 120 hour internship over 5-6 weeks.

  • Classes: Monday–Thursday, 9 am–3 pm
  • Clinical Internship: 120 hours (after successfully completing all classes)

Eligibility & Cost

Are you motivated to learn new skills and secure employment? This program may be perfect for you, as long as you're 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, are considered unemployed/underemployed/dislocated worker, and you can provide a RI BCI Background Check. The program is free to those who are eligible, or $7,500 for those who do not meet eligibility requirements.
