The State Ballet of Rhode Island has a long and cherished history of performing Coppelia, a ballet that has been part of its repertoire for decades. Since its founding by Heri Marsden and Myles Marsden, the company has regularly brought Coppelia to the stage, making it a staple of their annual performances and a beloved tradition for audiences young and old. This classic ballet, with its enchanting story of love, humor, and magic, has allowed generations of dancers and viewers to connect with the timeless antics of Dr Coppelius and the beauty of his lifelike doll. Through Coppelia, The State Ballet of Rhode Island continues to celebrate its commitment to classical ballet and cultural enrichment for the Rhode Island community and beyond.

Be a part of Rhode Island tradition since 1962 with Herci Marsden's Coppelia, a witty and enchanting love story with a toy shop full of dancing dolls and sprinkles of magic. Follow the character Swanhilda as she makes believe she is the Coppelia doll who comes to life. This whimsical ballet will tickle you with laughter.
